District Jazz Band Dates for 2025-2026
November 3rd, 2025: Auditions at Moberly High School in Moberly, Missouri (In conjunction with the All-District Concert Band Auditions)
February 7th, 2026: District Jazz Band rehearsal and performance at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.

- Now Hear This! (C), from Blues in All Keys Vol. 42, Jamey Aebersold
- Winds will be required to play the melody and improvise a minimum of one chorus on “Now Hear This!”
- Piano, Bass, Guitar, Vibes, and Drums will play the melody first chorus, comp or walk second chorus, and improvise third chorus on “Now Hear This!”
- MOAJE Swing Etude Set 2 – Based on Do Nothing Till You Hear from Me (B-Flat)
- Swing Etude – All Winds and Rhythm Section – Play measures 1 to the down beat of 17 only
- MOAJE Latin Etude Set 2 – Based on Song For my Father (f min)
- Latin Etude – All Winds – Play measures 1 to the down beat of 17 only
- Latin Etude – All Rhythm Section – Play Entire Etude
We will NOT listen to “Cantaloupe Island” from Approaching the Standards at District Auditions. (this will be asked at state auditions)
We will NOT ask drum set players to play from the Drum Set Styles sheet at District Auditions. (this will be asked at state auditions)
